Weekend Workshops at the Studio

If you are looking for a deeper connection to your kids, grand-kids, brothers, sisters or any family member we encourage you to join us in collaborating or creating together in a shared space. Many of these workshops offer that opportunity.

 

Soft Cover Accordian Book Workshop with Visiting Artist Sue Messer Saturday April 25th 1pm-4pm

Learn how to make soft cover accordion books from single sheets of paper in this introductory book arts workshop with visiting artist Sue Messer. Inspiring in its simplicity and engaging in its playful range of possibilities, this easy to learn book structure can present multiple pages and ideas in sequence or all at once.

Sue Messer is a retired Art Professor from UW Whitewater. She is passionate about books, printmaking, papermaking, and many many other things. Join her and her exuberant energy in this unique workshop.‍ ‍

During this workshop, we will learn the basics of working with paper, construct a practice model, and using mixed media drawing and print tools, create at least one personally developed book for use as a small, portable journal, sketchbook, or content-focused book work. Illustrated handouts will serve as instructional guides during the session and for future bookmaking experiences. Generous feedback, experimentation and play will be encouraged throughout! 

No experience necessary and all materials provided. Ages 12 – Adult welcome!

Bob Ross Painting Experience Workshop SaFor the first time ever, a workshop that let’s you experience a type of Bob Ross painting. Learn to paint a bit like the master himself. We will beat the devil out of the brush, paint with our palette knives, and create a serene landscape with happy little trees!! Remember Bob always said, “there are no mistakes in art, only happy accidents!” NO experience necessary. A certified Bob Ross instructor, Rob Hill will be leading us in this event. You get to take home a your 12 × 16 painting and a wood palette.

If you dress like Bob for the workshop-you get a special prize.

Ages 10 to Adult welcome and encouraged. Saturday May 16th 9:30am-Noon

This experience will be outside the studio on the lawn with tables and easels. If it rains the rain date is Sunday May 17th

Gooseneck Gourd Birdhouse Workshop Saturday April 18th 9am-11am

Spring is arriving and the birds will be looking for new homes, interesting homes, unique casas! Join us in creating a Gourd Birdhouse that is simple, easy, and fun!

Gourds and paint provided. All ages welcome.
