Meet Peg Larabell: She knows shoes, leather, and Moobuzz too!

Meet Peg Larabell; craftswoman, bee enthusiast, inventor.

In the mid 1970’s, craving the satisfaction of working with her hands, Peg started a small custom leather-goods business in Neenah, Wisconsin. She began making belts, bags, shoes and boots. She relished finishing her leather goods with stains and oils similar to the ones she used when she helped her dad with woodworking projects. In addition to her small leather goods business, Peg began keeping bees. Fascinated with honey, honey comb, and bee culture, she was soon providing friends and family with an abundance of honey. She was also collecting a fair amount of beeswax, a by-product of honey extraction.

Peg started Third Street Shoe-an awesome shoe/leather repair place. She has now moved into devoting the majority of her time producing this awesome leather product called Moobuzz. It’s all natural and makes old leather look new again. In addition, she’s out there teaching classes. She is coming to Bare Knuckle Arts, to teach a workshop on Unique Leather Key Fobs on Sunday Nov. 18th 1-3:30pm.

Handcrafted Soap is the Best, No Lye!!!

This is sure to be an amazing workshop with Laura from Madison Soap Company. She really knows her stuff. The first run thru made the studio smell fantastic.

Join Laura Daly from the Madison Soap Company in this soap making workshop. We will learn the basics of cold-process soap making, create 32 ounces of soap ($45 retail value) to take home with you to cure.

Soap making is a whole lot of chemistry, but also a lot of creativity. Some fun things you may want to bring with you to add to your soap mixture may include finely ground coffee, powdered clay, tea leaves, flower petals. For the top of your soap, you could bring fun things like a small pine cone, a favorite lego piece, a bouncy ball, some scrabble letters, or anything else small that would look incredible sticking out of your soap! I saw someone hide a 25 cent piece in their soap.!

Wander the Back Roads of Wisconsin and You'll Start to Notice

What's a Barn Quilt? A larger piece of wood painted to look like a quilt block. Typically they are very large and usually are placed on the exterior of a barn, house, garage or shed. They were originally created to honor mothers, quilters, and the tradition of quilting in different heritages.

Painted on a smooth board-the barn quilt usually only highlights one quilt block. Wander the back roads of Wisconsin, take that country winding road and you will see one, two, and notice the amazing barn quilts thru the state.

Our barn quilts will be the size of 20 inch by 20 inch. Most barn quilts are painted with simple geometric shapes, like squares, rectangles and triangles. They usually are painted in solid colors. The simplicity in shape and the vibrancy of solid colors make these blocks easily seen from afar AND it makes they easy to create. Don’t have a barn? A screen porch will do. No Experience is necessary for this workshop. All materials provided-you just need to get it home in your car. Saturday Sept. 29th 9am-2pm Bring or get some lunch. $65 dollars per board
