Puppet It Up Class for Kids Beginning Jan. 22nd 3:45pm-5:30pm

Puppet It Up is an after-school class for children ages 9-12. Students learn about rod puppets and muppet puppets and the basic techniques that bring characters to life in this interactive workshop.  In this 6 week class, each will create a hand puppet, a rod puppet as well as their own muppet puppet. This class meets every Monday from 3:45pm-5:30pm beginning Monday Jan. 22nd, 29th, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26th.  Basic hand sewing skills needed.  This is not a drop in class, you must pre-register for the whole session.

One of my favorite all time Robin Williams movies, Jumanji has been made into a sequel with a whole new twist and an amazing cast of characters.  Very excited to see this new film!!! AND it's all based on a board game premise.

Come explore the medium of needle felting.

We will create a color rich landscape based on a photograph or your imagination using roving wool and a simple needle felting technique.   Creating small intimate color rich compositions we will then frame them in rustic wood frames created by Black Wood Works. Saturday Nov. 25th 1-3pm

Join us for a Nesting Doll(Matryoshka).  Ever wanted your very own set?  Reserve your spot and create your own with paint and paint markers.   A Matryoshka doll also known as a Russian nesting doll refers to a set of wooden dolls that decrease in size and are placed one inside another. Paint your own set either as dolls, animals, superheros, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars, characters, even Santa Claus or whatever tickles your fancy. They are hard to resist-easy to display.  No experience necessary just an eagerness to learn.  We will use acrylic paint and paint markers.  $65 per participant Ages 6-Adult

Let's get dirty, smudgy, and ripped with color in Introduction to Oil Pastels.  We will emphasize composition, work on developing technique as we try a more painterly approach to pastels.  No experience is necessary. This class is an opportunity to try out pastels and create small but rich painterly compositions.  Student grade pastels are provided but you can bring your own pastel sets if interested.  12 Year olds to Adults Welcome $80

Open Studio is a time for children to come in and use any of the art materials in the studio to create.  There is no set project.  Students can explore and determine their own making experience.  Ages 3-12 welcome Adult guidance is recommended for 5 and under.

Cartoon and Graphic Novel Class now offered on Mondays beginning in November.

Cartoon and Graphic Novel class is Mondays in November till December.  It is a great class for kids who just love to draw.  Students will  develop their own unique personal style in cartooning, learn about storyboards and try drawing with pencil, ink, pens, and paint markers.  We will look at a variety of graphic novels and talk about art vocabulary unique to cartooning and graphic novels.  Begins Monday Nov. 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, Dec. 4th, 11th, 18th 3:45-5:30pm

Ages 9-12 Welcome $84 per session or you can buy a punch card as well.

I Love, Love, Love, Oil Pastels.

I love oil pastels.  They are messy, oily, juicy, crayons that are a really great medium to work with.  It's dirty and you have to use elbow grease with layer upon layer to make them look awesome but the more you work at it the richer it looks.

Tuesdays in November, this class is an opportunity to try out pastels and create small but rich painterly compositions.  Student grade pastels are provided but you can bring your own pastel sets if interested.  15 Year olds to Adults Welcome

Art Supply Swap is this Sept 23rd Saturday from 10am-2pm

Area artists, teachers, students, crafters basically anyone-are invited to bring in their surplus beads, brushes, canvas, crafting tools, embroidery floss, fabric, glue, lace, markers, paint, paper, glass, pencils, ribbon, rick-rack, roving, thread, wire, fabric, yarn to trade with other creative individuals. All items must be in useable condition. You can bring them with you the day of the swap or drop them off ahead of time to Amy at Bare Knuckle Arts or Megan at Megan’s Custom Framing.
If you have nothing to swap but want to shop there is a donation of $5 the day of.

"A Dirty Little Secret About Painting"

You know, art majors in college are not suppose to get B's.  They are suppose to be great at art, all art, especially painting.  My dirty little secret, I got all A's in my art classes except painting class with Olympia Ogilieve.  I deserved and received a "B".  I really despised painting fake flower paintings.  My philosophy now is try and try again.  Keep on doing-so join us for Open Studio Acrylic Painting offers the opportunity to learn about acrylics and various techniques.  Paint what you are most interested in.  You will have hands-on studio time as well as short lectures to help you develop your hidden talents. Student grade acrylics and canvas provided but you can bring your own paints or we can offer recommendations. Sept. 14th, Sept. 21, Sept 28, Oct. 5, Oct. 12, Oct. 19 6:30-8:30
